Tonight, it was time to give the year 6 girl footballers a well deserved break. The year 4/5 girls futsal team made their way to Tameside College to represent Broadoak Primary.
The girls had to play 4 games knowing that the top team at the end would make it through to the Manchester games. They started brilliantly with a 2-0 win in their first game thanks to great goals from Lilly and Mia. The second game was a huge challenge against the favourites at the tournament and although Broadoak lost there were some fantastic saves by Abbie and a very good goal from the captain, Kasey.
The third game was very close but a last minute goal gave Broadoak a narrow 1-0 thanks to some great defending and teamwork from Darcie and Charlie. This meant that Broadoak had to win their last game to finish top. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite get the win they needed but came home, feeling very proud, with 2 wins and a second place on the night.
We have had some great football from the girls this academic year and it’s nice to know that the next generation of footballers are ready to take over next year.
Great work girls!!
